Amateur Boxer (1997-2002)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (2003-Present)

Had a 22-7 record as an Amateur boxer while a member of the University of Michigan NCAA Boxing team.  Cultivated a relentless work ethic and preternatural pain tolerance.

Suffered humiliating defeat in the semi-finals of the 2002 Michigan Golden Gloves tournament as a Light Heavyweight, having been knocked unconscious but somehow remaining upright.

Took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on account of suffering ten too many concussions in his failed boxing career and stuck to it like glue.

In 2015, earned his Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Also won gold at Northwest session of the North American Grappling Association in the No Gi Expert division at 167 lbs.

Spent the past year as the lead No Gi submission grappling instructor at Praxis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Seattle, WA.  Currently teaches intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Nemesis Jiu Jitsu in Portland.
